Ed Hardy Sunglasses

Any fans of Ed Hardy out there? I find Christian Audigier’s work for the company….interesting. It’s fun to look at but ultimately it’s not really my style. I suppose it’s no surprise to see the lifestyle brand branching out into eye wear (although I am surprised that their energy drinks came out first!). The shades have the same tattoo inspired prints and rhinestones on the frames that you can find on his clothing. Oh and the cases are pretty too.
Ed Hardy sunglasses range from $210 to $225. Check out the white Ed Hardy ‘Koi Fish’ Sunglasses and all the rest!
Loud Logo’s
Generally, I prefer to stay away from designer logos. I’m mainly referring to printed and patterned logos, like you’ll see on a Coach, Gucci or Fendi bag….don’t even get me started on Louis Vuitton. But I don’t mind a logo on the side of a pair of sunglasses so much, like on my Versace’s. But I think these Michael Kors sunglasses show how not to put a logo on sunglasses. The HUGE MK is just loud and overpowering, and I don’t see anything chic about it. Couldn’t they have at least chosen a more interesting font?
But hey, at least they’re cheap - only $100. If this bold look fits your fancy, check out the MICHAEL Michael Kors Shield Sunglasses at Macy’s.
Favorite Bag of the Moment

Yes, this is a blog about Sunglasses, but I’m sure you guys won’t mind if I veer off the subject for just a moment! While other women obsess over shoes, there are three accessories that I can’t live without: bags, belts and…well the third should be obvious. I love handbags that are unique and organic looking, but still wearable, and I prefer them in earth tones. Perhaps that’s why I’m digging the the new Acne Jeans Saint Lambskin purse at the moment. The shape and the rolled handles totally get my fashion infused juices brewing, but….

….I actually think it would be cute if it were smaller. This happens to me SO often; I think a purse is a medium sized shoulder bag and then I see them on a model and realize they’re huge! Hopefully we’ll be seeing this in a mini sometime soon. And at $575 it’s about 1/3 of what you would pay for a high end designer name.

Cover Girl Makes Sunglasses?
Not just sunglasses, a whole range of eyewear. Hmm, going from cosmetics to glasses is kind of an odd leap for me, but I guess if Vogue can do it, so can CG. Truthfully though, I’m not a big fan of either pair. Do the lenses AND the shades have to have those color transitions? Eh,that just makes them look sort of like something you would pick of at the gas station, to me at least. I bet the prices are good though!
And just in case you recognize the girls in the ads, it’s Dani and Caridee, two past America’s Next Top Model winners.
Personal Style: Las Vegas Shopping
I went to Las Vegas last week to celebrate my 22nd birthday, and it was a ton of fun! I got to do a ton of shopping, mainly at the Fashion Show Mall on the strip that has something like 250 stores. Yes, it’s an absolutely gigantic store and it took me two days to get through the whole thing (but that’s not unusual).
I try to make the most of shopping out of town because there aren’t many stores I care for in my area. So I mainly bought transition and fall pieces like sweaters and a few tops. Take a look at what I got below:
Brown shrug with gold thread from MNG Mango. It was my first time going into that store and I absolutely love it! They remind me of Express because they have moderate prices and good quality, except they’re a bit edgier and more trend forward. It’s a shame they don’t have more stores in the US. Anyways, this will be a good transition piece for Fall and it should go nicely with some of my tube tops and tanks.
Do You Heart Juicy?

I went on a little shopping trip earlier today to one of the higher end boutiques here in town called Bella. They just started carrying Juicy Couture sunglasses not so long ago and while I was there I noticed this rather unique pair with a heart cutout right between the eyes. Of course, the first thing that comes to my mind is that I HAVE to blog this! And then I saw this picture of Rachel Bilson wearing a really similar pair. Isn’t it funny how things happen that way?
I think these are cute and innovative, and they definitely should appeal to the Juicy customer. But I highly dislike when designers put anything right on the bridge over the nose like that (don’t even get me started on putting logos and brand names there!); I can’t explain why but it just looks so odd to me! But I do think these shades are a good way to stand out without being too austentatious.
The only place I could find these online is at TheSunglassHouse.com, on sale for $145 (and I’m not sure how reputable they are so be sure to check things out before buying!).
So, I Bought Them…
The Versace shades I posted a couple weeks ago, that is (go here to check them out). And I absolutely love them! First off, they’re HUGE, which took some getting used to but I really like the way they look, especially the gold accents on the side. I just have to get used to not smiling when they’re on, because I have such high cheekbones that they go up towards my hairline if I smile.
These were totally worth the $180. I actually saved about $20 (They were originally $185.95) because I got a coupon from The Sunglass Hut, where I worked about two years ago. The last pair of glasses I had were Kenneth Cole and I had those for about two years; the entire time I was SO nervous about losing them! Seriousl,y having worked in retail, I can’t tell you how many times I would find a pair of Versace’s hanging in the dressing room or having someone call asking if we found their $250 D&G shades.
No, we didn’t.
But with these, even though they’re so much more expensive, I’m not too worried because I’ve really trained my self on how to keep track of them (and trust me, I am the MOST forgetful persn you’ll ever meet; and I lose everything!).
Here’s a few tips for NOT losing your designer sunglasses and just keeping them nice to begin with:
- Never, EVER, set them down anywhere. Period. Not even for a second, because that’s all it takes to leave them!
- Always keep your shades in your hand, on the front of your shirt, or best of all just stick them in the case and shove them back into your purse. Oh, and I’m morally opposed to recommending putting them on your head because that can stretch out your glasses majorly (but go ahead and do it if you really want to!).
- Always clean off your glasses using the special synthetic cloths that come in the case, and a special solution. Using water or even just using the cloth on it’s own can damage the glasses, and cleaning it with other fabrics (ie. your shirt) can stratch the lenses.
- Don’t leave plastic frames in the sun or anywhere near high heat!
- If you lose the nose pads in your metal framed glasses, or just need them adjusted (which you can actually do yourself) you can always go to The Sunglass Hut or someplace similar and usually they’ll do all of this for free, including replacing the pads.
- Plastic frames can be adjusted using heat. But be careful, even if a “professional” is doing this. Don’t even get me started on the time that I MELTED a customers sunglasses (oops!).
There’s not much I can do to help your glasses from getting stolen. But you know, I’d actually rather mine be stolen than lose them, because at least then I won’t be mad at myself!
